The Most Important Work

If you are a Christian serving the Lord, you are doing the most important work in the world. What you do for Him is not important because of who you are, it is important because of who He is. He is your Creator, the Creator of the universe and the Creator of Heaven. He is Almighty God.

What you do for Him is the most important work whether you are 4 years old or 104. It is important whether you have been saved for 5 minutes or 50 years. It is important no matter how insignificant you think you are. It is important if you are a ditch-digger or are building a skyscraper. It is important whether you are studying one verse in the Bible or sharing the gospel with multitudes. It is important whether you are breathing a short prayer or laboring under a heavy burden. It is important whether you are little known or have world-wide fame. It is important whether you are ignorant or brilliant. It is important whether you are preaching a sermon or listening to one. It is important whether you are clumsy or talented. It is important whether you are being still before Him or doing great works that multitudes can see. Most of the things that are most important are things that only God and you will ever know about. He will never forget them and will reward every one of them. Some of His rewards are here and now and some will be forever in Heaven. Serving Him and pleasing Him is the purpose for which He created us. It is an unspeakable privilege to work for Him and with Him.

1 Corinthians 3:9a: For we are labourers together with God: . . .

1 Thessalonians 2:4: But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.

Philippians 2:12-13: Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. 13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

Ephesians 2:10: For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Ecclesiastes 9:10: Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.

1 Corinthians 10:31: Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

Don*t go off into vanity. Don*t go off into the unimportant. Don*t just serve yourself. Don*t serve Satan. Don*t be idle. Keep going. Don*t give up. Don*t quit. If you have quit start again. Ask Him what He wants you to do next and do it. Serving Him is just one little step at a time, one thought at a time, one deed at a time and one day at a time.
